My family loves sweet potatoes. They are scrumptious baked, made into French fries and oven-roasted. Did you know they can also be made into desserts that are both healthy and delicious?
According to the Huffington Post, sweet potatoes come in two main varieties in the United States. One has golden skin with creamy white flesh and a crumbly texture. The other has copper skin with an orange flesh that is sweet and soft. Both are equally as tasty! If you’re looking for true yams check an international grocery market in your area.
Sweet potatoes aren’t just delicious, they’re an excellent source of beta carotene, B vitamins and vitamin C, and minerals like manganese, copper and potassium. What’s more, one medium sweet potato provides a whopping 26 percent of the recommend daily intake of fiber!
Here are four sweet potato dessert recipes. I always bake extra potatoes for dinner so I have them on hand when I get a hankering for one of these yummy treats! Let me know what you think.
